Subject: Community Notice: News from The Men’s Table – The health risks of loneliness

– THE HEALTH RISKS OF LONELINESS –

"Social isolation knows no age or boundaries…"  says a report from the World Health Organisation, who have declared loneliness to be a global health threat

Social isolation is linked to increased risks of dementia, coronary diseases and stroke in older adults and poor economic and performance outcomes in young people.

As the importance of connection and community is becoming more recognised, we are pleased to see the high percentage of men who participated in our annual survey of men reporting a sense of community belonging as a result of sitting at their Table. Further outcomes from our annual survey will be released in 2024.

2023: A BIG YEAR!

As for many others, it’s been a big year at The Men’s Table!

2023 has seen us truly become national, with Tables now operating in every State and Territory. We’ve celebrated 100 Tables, then 150 Tables; we’ve been in the news and on advisory boards; we’ve debuted at the Sydney Film Festival and on outdoor ad spaces encouraging men to Go Beyond Banter…and much more!

It’s been a busy, fulfilling year growing our community and this short video captures some of the highlights

We’re thrilled that now over 2000 men are meeting monthly across the country to talk about what’s going on for them, listen to other men and support each other.

– CHANGING MEN’S LIVES –

Men’s Table are fortunate to work with many forward-thinking organisations who recognise the benefit of investing in preventative work. During 2023 our Victorian team have been working with South Eastern Melbourne PHN to support men in building connection and positive relationships.

We were thrilled to be featured in their annual report and look forward to continuing to support the men in their region.

– 2024 ENTREES –

Our 2024 Entree calendar is already building up. These events are the first step to joining a Men’s Table, and allow men to experience how a Table works and decide if it’s for them before committing to a Table.

Please share our upcoming Entrees with your networks as we continue to support men in 2024.

From the team in the Men’s Table Kitchen, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope you enjoy a safe and restful festive season.
